Smoothie with plums and raspberries

It is so easy to have health and quick breakfast with a green smoothie. My little boy knows it too very well – every morning (and several times during a day) he stands by the counter and yells “Mu – mu”. He doesn’t speak much yet but this word can word can mean only two things – a cow or a smoothie. And considering where he is standing I would put my money on the last one. So today we were out of our usual ingredients – fresh spinach (we had some but it was soggy) and dates but we replaced them with frozen spinach cubes and dried plums, which I have never used in a smoothie before. But it was so yummmmy! So naturally I had to post it!

  • 2 big bananas
  • 1 big orange
  • 2 cubes of frozen spinach
  • 1/2 cup of raspberries (or blueberries or sea-buckthorn or mixed berries)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 dried black plums (or dates)
  • 1 Tbsp of flaxseeds (for good fats)

Nutribullet is perfectly able to process it all into nice smoothie but if your blender is not so powerful I would recommend soaking plums (or dates), grinding flax and using fresh orange juice instead of water (and leaving orange out). I’m not a big fan of lumps in my smoothie.

And I can not NOT mention it. It is my favorite 1. December ever (ok, right after the one I got ice skates from elves – but it was 25 years ago). I got a package from my friend who paints porcelain and WOOOOOOW! I can not wait to make great food to show of these dishes. But for a sneak peak:


Rich and creamy chocolate mousse

One saturday afternoon we had desparate need for chocolate but nothing sweet in tha house. Sad moment. But only a moment because I remembered that few years ago I had made a chocolate smoothie we really loved. Now I wanted to make it thicker and richer – so here you go:

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 cup of plant milk (unsweetened almond)
  • 1 Tbsp of agave syrup
  • 3 Tbsp of cocoa
  • orange and raspberries for serving

Everything blended smooth and creamy.


Makes two wonderfully indulgent portions or four small ones. To me the experience was similar to my favorite lava cake – same richness I love there. And so easy to make at home. And good stuff only in.

I’m afraid that for this dessert everybody gave 10 points. To get bigger portion, I even tried to convince girls that since there is avocado and cocoa, they won’t like it but they wanted to taste it anyway. And after that we had to split it between four.

Summery smoothie with blueberries and raspberries

Smoothies are our favourite fast meal, snack and sometimes a lunch (like today). Our current favourite has summery taste we already miss so much. Especially on those rainy and windy days like today when we can not wonder around neighbourhood digging here and there and talking to random people (baby and a dog help a lot with this).

After our morning baby swimming class, that we totally rocked, and little nap in the car (coffee for me nap for him) we desperately needed quick fix. So here is what we did:

  • 2 spotty bananas
  • 1 big handful of fresh baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 4-5 dates
  • 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
  • Water 

Everything to the blender and done. While taking pictures, my companion got a bit hungry and helped himself:)

Good Morning Smoothie With Chia Seeds and Sea-buckthorn!

There have been many-many evenings, I plan to wake up 6 AM and to my yoga practice at home. Should be possible? I thought so too – but apparently I really like to sleep. And that makes it kind of impossible. So – woke up 6.AM, in car at 6.15, went to my yoga school and came back home just in time to make kids (and myself) the breakfast, shower and go to work (and kindergarten). This was may (perfect) morning smoothie today:

  • two bananas,
  • 1 orange
  • 3 dates (fresh and soft ones)
  • few Tbsp of frozen sea-buckthorn few
  • oat milk (as much as you like dependent on consistency you like)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

= about 800 ml of goodness

Date-banana-strawberry smoothie -COLD

I don’t curse much but my first emotion with this smoothie was “fuck, it’s good”. It might be that it has been extremely hot is Estonia for last couple of days (over 30 deg is a lot since most of the time we just have bad skiing weather for summer) and this almost ice creamy drink was just perfect to start up my morning.

I also had my first morning in Tartu Ashtanga Yoga school (woke up at 6.15 to get there on time). Since kids will be at countryside with their great grandma for  next four weeks I can do yoga and smoothies every morning now. I think I’m in heaven. REALLY!

I had no plan for posting this smoothie but it came out so great I did a quick picture with second glass of this great stuff.


I needed:

  • 1 frozen and one regular banana
  • 5 soft dates
  • 5 frozen strawberries
  • oat milk (about 100 ml for me – depending on the amount it will be nice cream or smoothie)


Too good to be true, I’m telling you.

600 (!) cal DAY STARTER smoothie with spinach, avocado, banana and dates

500 (!) calorie DAY STARTER smoothie with spinach, avocado, banana and dates

I can not count the times I have tried to do spinach-avocado smoothie and ended up squeezing it in crying inside since it is so tasteless and I can not throw it away because avocados are too expensive and gooooood! (to good for smoothie some might even say – I disagree)

So this time – SUCCESS at last! Try it out – its thick, really nutritious and soooooo tasty. I could eat it for dessert.

  • One huge or two little avocados
  • One banana
  • 50 g of frozen baby spinach
  • 5 dates
  • 100 ml

Blend it all and afterwards apologize to your blender. Mine was upset because dates are rather hard here in Estonia…probably because of the weather. Too cold to grow nice and soft:P (sorry – snow patches at the end of April do make you bit sarcastic)

If you are interested in numbers then C-vitamin daily intake is already doubled after this smoothie. Iron intake is also good (3mg).
